Drumragh Sarsfields G.F.C are based at Clanabogan, on the outskirts of Omagh, Co. Tyrone. The club was founded in 1972 as a result of an amalgamation of Tattysallagh St. Eugenes and Tattyreagh St.Patricks. Drumragh are a Junior Gaelic Football Club in County Tyrone. Having been relegated from Intermediate football in 2006, we were unsuccessful in our attempt to return to Intermediate this year. In Irish, Drumragh Sarsfields is translated as Droim Ratha Na Sarséil. Drumragh meaning ‘Ridge of a Fort’, Sarsfield being the surname of the leader of the Irish forces from 1688-92, Patrick Sarsfield, whom the club is named after. The parish of Drumragh in West Tyrone, is situated to the south-west of Omagh, including the town of Omagh as well as surrounding town lands such as Clanabogan and Tattyreagh. In the early years, Drumragh played out of ‘McSwiggan’s Holm’ in Clanabogan before moving to the Parish owned St.Patrick’s Park in Omagh. For many years, St.Pats Park has been what The Sarsfields have called ‘home’, although in 2006 this changed when we finally moved to our newly developed grounds at Clanabogan. Having taken the brave decision to purchase 16 acres of land back in 2001, fulfilling a long term objective of owning our own grounds, the Club Committee embarked on huge fundraising activities in order to raise the finance needed to develop sporting & social facilities for the local community on the site. Although the facilities are far from complete, developments are at an advanced stage with the main playing field & spectator stand completed, with development of Club Rooms and a second pitch to commence soon.
